ong & ong: 31 blair road residence

" Continuity of spaces eliminate the boundary between inside and outside, in order to create multiple relationships between diverse activities that occur in a residential realm. Austere and minimalistic with a constant analogy to industrial spaces.
The final scheme in an innovative response to the constraints of a conservation building. A traditional facade embraces a contemporary way of living, that has meticulously achieved a delicate balance between the old and the new. This has created a unique and effective house design, the exterior and the modern approach to the interior has been designed in context with the surroundings." - arch daily

a total stud

I am loving 'stud work' at the moment and am so excited to see it popping up more and more. I have had a bronze studded clutch for the last 3 years and use it to death! these are just a few images I found that I think are real glam rock. make sure you check out the latest from givenchy (white gloves)

"I had never seen a modern house before," Shulman said. It "intrigued me with its strange forms - beyond any previous identity of a house in my experience" - http://www.latimes.com/

the opposite house

"The Opposite House Hotel opened in the summer of 2008 in Beijing’s vibrant Sanlitun district.
Designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates, the hotel’s 99 contemporary guest rooms are among the largest in Beijing with more than half being over 70 sqm. The rooms are strikingly simple with natural wooden floors and subtle touches of Chinese décor, lending each one a sense of place.
The name, The Opposite House, is derived from a translation of a Chinese word, which historically described the building located opposite the main house in a courtyard where guests would stay.
The Opposite House is the first of a number of hotels being developed in China, Hong Kong and the UK by Swire Hotels, which will all be distinctive hotels, individually named and each uniquely designed by renowned architects and designers." - the contemporist

party at My House

What a fantastic concept....sexy! Check out the rest at:

My House is a new nightclub in Los Angeles that has been designed by Dodd Mitchell.
The club’s interior reinterprets the classic house party by feeling and functioning like you’ve entered someone’s private home. According to David Judaken, the club’s owner, “Discerning Angelenos are seeking a new paradigm to replace the current dichotomy of tiny lounges and large, anonymous clubs that proliferate Hollywood.”
“I have always enjoyed the comfort of a house party that just doesn’t exist in your typical nightclub, so with My House I set out to create an environment I would personally relish, and bring that vision to the nightlife space,” said designer Dodd Mitchell.

bitch is SO the new black

loving Phi's Autumn 09 collection, biker meets goth and once again another great campaign shoot by Steven Meisel. Great texture, patern and fabric combos....mmmmm!

hype for type

For some reason or another, I have always loved type. You could say im hype for type. And when I see a layout like this, i squeal with excitement. Large print almost graphic with loads of perfect black/white space, perhaps my enthusiasm for type is an indication that I should of pursued a career in graphics.

umm....WOW

This luxury house is quite the debut for Paris firm Jouin Manku, which was commissioned along with architecture firm YTL Design Group to take on this large-scale integrated architectural and interior design project. All i can say is, if you EVER need a house sitter, im your girl.

Madonna for Louis Vuitton

Now, im not a huge fan of Louis Vuitton ( I know, shame on me), nor am I of Madonna (she’s had her day, now move on), however the past few add campaigns shot by renown photographer Steven Meisel have been simply stunning. The combination of LV’s modern safari mixed in with 50’s glam is a surprising mix, yet not as surprising as their choice for Madonna to be the face of the new campaign. What were they thinking? Apart from her pearly completion, in which Meisel is legendary for transforming into a luminous white appearance, I cannot see the benefit she brings. Go home to your kids Madonna.

“Anytime I design, the first challenge I give myself is how to mix textures, patterns and colors which are not commonly seen together in a symbiotic way” Amireh explains.
